The Michad-Pechez Journal of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (ISSN 1595-5087)— is an open-access publication. This journal publishes scholarly articles, conference papers, dissertation chapters, and book reviews within the domains of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. The Journal Editorial Board comprises esteemed academics from leading African universities. This journal is published online on a monthly basis.
The Michad-Pechez Journal of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences is peer-reviewed and operates an open access policy aimed at Humanities and Social Science scholarly research throughout Africa. The journal welcomes the submission of manuscripts with the theoretical/conceptual framework from the following disciplines: sociology and Social Work, Education, Art Education, Languages, Economics, History, Political Studies, Geography, Business, Religious Studies, African Studies, Music, Music Education, fine arts, Linguistics and Law.
All submitted articles to this journal undergo a peer-review process. The double-blind review procedure requires around 4 to 12 weeks. Authors will receive notifications at each phase of the review process.
Overview of the Peer Review Procedure
Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial plagiarism assessment with CrossRef’s Similarity Check software, which is powered by iThenticate’s Turnitin. Articles containing plagiarized content from previously published works will be rejected.
Articles that successfully pass the plagiarism assessment undergo a blind pre-review process evaluating their quality, accuracy, references (current, relevant, adequate), punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
Manuscripts failing the initial blind pre-review stage are returned to their authors for revisions and resubmission, or are rejected.
Upon successful completion of the pre-review step, the Editorial Board designates a reviewer with relevant experience to conduct a blind evaluation of the submitted manuscript.
In the blind review procedure, a reviewer evaluates a submitted manuscript, allocates scores, and provides feedback according to the categories outlined below: Originality and creativity; Reader engagement; Relevance and utility; Subject mastery; Knowledge contribution; Methodological accuracy; Comprehensiveness; Punctuation; Spelling and grammar; References (current, suitable, adequate); Tables, charts, and captions.
The Reviewer outlines the strengths, weaknesses, and further remarks for the author’s consideration in a review report, assigns an overall score, and recommends one of the following options: Publish without alterations. Publish after minor revisions, Publish after major revisions, or Decline.
Upon receipt of the final report from a reviewer, the Editorial Team renders a conclusive decision about the article and communicates it to the author.
Authors of approved submissions are required to implement the necessary revisions as applicable and submit the following: A copy of the amended manuscript and a Word document detailing the modifications made in response to the reviewer’s suggestions.
All research papers published in THIS JOURL are open access. This means that they are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication for free download on the journal website. With open access, authors can easily share the content of their research work with a much wider audience; the global research community can have access to all articles; and there is no need to have any kind of membership or pay any fees to use or download published journal articles. Any user can read, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This arrangement is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access. The copyright holder—author(s) of all published articles—grants usage rights to others using an open license (CC BY license).
All research articles in this journal are released under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unlimited use, distribution, and reproduction in any form, provided the original work is appropriately credited.
Authors will maintain the copyright of their published articles, consenting to the application of the CC BY license terms to their work. This license permits members of the research community to copy, distribute, transmit, or adapt the article material without requiring permission from the author(s) or publisher.
The perspectives, beliefs, and findings articulated in the research article reflect those of the author(s). The Journal shall not assume responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, or obligation arising from conflicts of interest, copyright infringements, or improper or erroneous use of any content associated with or included in published research articles.
Michad-Pechez employs CrossRef’s Similarity Check, facilitated by iThenticate, to avert scholarly and professional plagiarism. All submitted journal papers undergo a plagiarism assessment prior to the initiation of the editorial review process. Michad-Pechez regards plagiarism as a grave transgression. We are so dedicated to excluding articles containing potential instances of plagiarism from the review and publication process.
All published articles are assigned a DOI by Crossref and are permanently archived. Authors may amend, alter, and refresh their articles by releasing new versions, which are incorporated into the article’s history. Crossref receives the online URLs, abstracts, and references of published publications, enabling citation links to the work. This functionality is applicable solely to items published subsequent to May 2020. Michad-Pechez engages in the CrossMark initiative, a collaborative effort among multiple publishers that has established a standardized method for readers to identify the most recent version of an item. Michad-Pechez is dedicated to upholding the integrity of its published information by implementing CrossMark policies and notifying readers of any modifications as they arise. The CrossMark logo will be displayed on the title page of each published article in both PDF and web formats.

Michad-Pechez is dedicated to the enduring preservation of all its published information through digital archiving. Beginning in October 2020, all published journal articles in Michad-Pechez will be digitally stored with Portico. Portico is a digital preservation service offered by ITHAKA, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the academic community in utilizing digital technology to safeguard the scholarly record and promote research and teaching sustainably.
It is important for Authors to note that their published articles are not ‘final’ as new versions can be added at any stage. Possible mistakes that come to light during the peer review process may be highlighted in the published peer review reports, which are part of the article. Authors can publish revised versions, and any errors that become apparent during peer review or later can be corrected through the publication of new versions.
Articles may be retracted for several reasons, including genuine errors acknowledged by the authors, research misconduct (such as data falsification), duplicate or overlapping publications, fraudulent data usage, evident plagiarism, and unethical research practices. The retraction notice will explicitly specify the reason for the retraction and the party initiating it. The retraction notice will be associated with the withdrawn article, which typically remains accessible on the site, and the piece will be distinctly labeled as retracted, including the PDF version. An article is often retracted solely at the authors’ request or by the publisher following an institutional inquiry. Legal restrictions imposed on the publisher, copyright holder, or author(s) will only lead to the removal of the material from a retracted article.
The Journal charges a $250 article processing fee to offset expenses related to editing, publication services for authors, proofreading, website upkeep, and other associated fees.
The journal endorses a waiver policy.
Hard copies of the journal and airmailing costs are paid additionally.
No fee for article submission is necessary.
